Madonna Care Community

I would strongly recommend Bob Murphy and his firm for any construction project.

Sienna Senior Living asked Murphy Partners to present redevelopment options for an aging long term care facility on a 6.3 acre site in Orleans, Ontario. The steeply sloping terrain and numerous easements made the exercise challenging. After reviewing several options, Sienna chose a design for a new 3-storey long term care facility with a total of 256 fully compliant, post-Covid LTC beds.

The overall concept is based on creating easy and equal access for residents to amenities, as well as bright and open spaces. The building is located on top of a hill, and features a U-shaped plan arranged around two central courtyards. Each U consists of two resident home areas and is linked through the shared elevator lobby to the adjacent RHA.

The design takes advantage of the hillside location to provide 80 covered parking spaces, as well as back-of-house and staff areas with ample natural daylight. This positioning on the hill also allowed for the design of two resident home areas and administrative spaces/offices, as well as forty-seven surface parking spaces at the entrance level and designated private courtyards for all residents.

The Second and third floors consist of three RHA’s linked through a shared elevator lobby. Each RHA accommodates a mixture of private, semi-private and standard rooms, as well as amenity spaces such as dining and lounge, sunroom, and spa.

The central gathering spaces for bigger events, communal spaces and private yards were positioned in the middle of the ground floor to provide equal access for all residents and visitors.
