Seniors Housing Architects

Our Story

Murphy Partners has worked on more than 100 seniors housing projects across Ontario and in British Columbia, in both the private and non-profit sectors. This includes long-term care, memory care, assisted living, an independent living.

In 1984, Bob Murphy obtained his license with the Ontario Association of Architects and opened his own practice, A. Robert Murphy Architect.

In 1985 Bob discovered his niche when he got a cold call from a developer needing an addition designed for an existing retirement home in Peterborough, Ontario. Bob had worked on numerous non-profit housing projects, but this was his first foray into seniors housing. The project was a success, and the three principals he had worked with then went on to build their own seniors projects, each wanting Bob to be their architect.

The firm incorporated in 1986.

In 2020 the firm re-branded as Murphy Partners Senior Housing Architects to acknowledge both our established area of specialization and our evolving ownership structure.

Over the past 35 years Murphy Partners has developed an unparalleled depth of knowledge about the needs of the elderly, as well as the developers, operators, builders, investors, suppliers and consultants involved in these projects.

We are excited each and every day about the potential of our efforts to make lives better by design.
